About Me
Yes, that is a photo of me. You probably can’t tell because of how small the photo is, but those are double-pointed knitting needles holding my hair in a bun. I’ve been knitting since 2008 and crocheting since 2007. I really don’t crochet very much anymore, though. My current yarn obsession is knitting fingerless gloves. I love designing my own patterns. In fact, I’m currently selling knit/crochet patterns through Ravelry. Oh, and I’ve taken up spinning and dyeing yarn, though not as seriously as knitting.
I’m also a writer. I’ve been writing novels and short stories since I was thirteen. God has brought me a long way since those early days! He’s taught me that writing stories means nothing if they don’t glorify Him. My list of works in progress consists of a novel in revision, one that’s half-finished, and another that I am writing the old-fashioned way — by hand, on paper. I’ve won NaNoWriMo four years in a row, and I’m looking forward to this year. I am also looking forward to getting a novel or two published via Amazon Createspace. Of course, now that I’ve written time-sensitive stuff on this page, I’ll have to update it. Oh well.
Another hobby I’ve picked up is jewelry-making. In 2006 I got into it as a way to raise funds for the equestrian drill team I was on at the time. I had so much fun designing new stuff and working with beads, so when I started knitting, it was natural for me to come up with a way to blend those two hobbies. My stitch markers are the result. They are the reason I set up shop on Etsy. My favorite jewelry materials are Swarovski crystals, which I’m sure you can see by looking at my stitch markers.
Web design hooked me when I got my first personal Web page through our Internet provider somewhere around 2002. Graphic design followed not long after that. Since then I have run Web sites, forums, and blogs, learning how to design each along the way. I enjoy CSS coding, but the part I have the most fun with is designing vector graphics. With vector art I have an unlimited canvas with every color I could possibly imagine, and it’s all there at the click of a mouse.
I credit God for the gifts He has given me. I seek to use each of them for His glory and to bless people through the work I do. After all, I am nothing without Him. And nothing I do means anything if it’s not for Him.
